I've always felt that I couldn't draw fan art about a game unless I actually owned/played that game. I don't know why I felt that way but I did.

I got the okami game a few months ago and have ben playing it off and on. I've been wanting to do Okami fan art for awhile, then I saw the contest, so I thought, "Why not now?"

Here's my previous attempt colored.

I guess that's because the line's intensity is lost by the addition of color. it drowns out some of the line's strength when the colors shape out the form. I agree, but they are both so nice in their own way, I couldn't pick one over the other.

Wow, I like how all the colors and strokes go together.

I haven't played the game either but it looks very interesting and has a great art style by just looking at it.

i like the colors too. i wanted to make them looklike brush strokes too, and smudged ones at that. but with the brown dirty background it looks like she's storming the plains of Thermopoly. "This is Sparta!!!" LOL, I haven't grown tired of that yet.
